Ours is an antique home, and as such needs monitoring and care. When our gas fired steam furnace needed attention, we turned to Rapid Service and were extremely pleased. When Yankee Gas sold to Eversource, our service contract was, in turn, sold to a service broker. Repeated attempts to get routine service convinced us to look locally on our own. For fifteen years I've been struggling with my basement flooding from heavy rain. Inches of water would seep through cracks in my foundation; often ruining irreplaceable items I have collected through the years. I had to raise everything up on blocks to try to save my treasures because I couldn't always tell when it was going to flood. I can't remember how many times I had to rearrange my schedule, even postpone a vacation once, so I could be home to babysit my cellar. It just became too hard to lug the gallons of water of the basement stairs and out into the years. I decided to call Rapid Service to see what they could do.
During my first appointment, I went over my options with the plumbing tech and decided a sump pump would be the best solution. As we talked, he told me Rapid Service could also have their electrical department install a dedicated circuit to my panel box so I wouldn't have to worry about turning the pump on manually. I would be able to leave the house when it rained! He also explained that Rapid Service would dig a trench for a drainage pipe so water would properly flow away from my house instead of into the basement.
The price was reasonable and there was absolutly no detail left unattended.
When the work was complete, Rapid Service has completely exceeded my expectations. Their professionalism and diligent work ethic was impressive. I don't have to worry about my storage anymore and my back no longer suffers from hauling floodwater. The sump pump worked.
I don't know of any other company that would bring in fresh topsoil to cover the hole dug for the trench, hand rake it to level out my yard, and finally, re-seed the area so new grass would grow.
I have never been so impressed with any other service company to date and I would recommend Rapid Service to anyone.

I would like to thank you for the great service that we received from your company. We had what we thought was a leak from a pipe in our basement. Brian came out and assessed the problem and made an appointment to come back a few days later. When the wall was opened, a much larger problem was discovered. He was able to call for a carpenter that same day. This was a God sent, because if I had not called Rapid Service, I would have had to find a carpenter myself who would work around the plumber's schedule. Brian and Chris fixed the plumbing and Pete and James did the carpentry. Pete also suggested that this was something the our home owner's insurance might cover which was a great suggestion. Thanks again for such great service and very timely.

We are extremely satisfied with the new deck and want you to know that. From the very beginning of the project, Jim and Henry paid close attention to every detail. As a matter of fact, the building inspector himself was quite impressed with it.
Jim masterfully crafted a cabinet to enclose our unsightly circuit breaker and generator boxes. His work ethic is commendable. His suggestion to paint the cabinet, instead of applying stain, was just great. It significantly brightened a very drab corner of the room. After we discovered how much we could actually store inside of it, we asked ourselves why we had him build only one cabinet!
The removal of our sliders and installation of a solid door with deadbolt has added to our peace of mind. The room has been pleasantly transformed.
the replacement of our faucets will make our seasonal transitions far less frustrating. We'll no longer need to fit into tight places to find the Shut-Off valve.

My wife and I own and operate a Bed & Breakfast in our home in Scotland, CT. For a number of years we have used Rapid Service for all our electrical, plumbing, and heating needs. Most recently we had Rapid Service replace a malfunctioning kick heater in our Guest Game Room. The new unit provides very quiet and uniform heat for this sitting area, a favorite retreat for our guests.
In December, 2006, Rapid Service replaced our old, worn out furnace with a new Buderus unit. This new furnace is saving us hundreds of gallons of oil per year compared to the old one. The installation of this furnace is really something to see. Even our oil company representative said he could not have done a better job than what Rapid Service has done.
We are very pleased with the service Rapid Service provides, no matter what the problem. All the technicians are polite, pleasant to work with and efficient. If a problem arises, it is Rapid Service we call to resolve our problem. Do we tell our friends and neighbors who provides our service? You bet we do!

I have never dealt with a more trustworthy and honest repair company. In early 2012, Rapid Service renovated our bathroom. The results were fantastic and both my wife and I were ecstatic! In the Fall of 2012, a manufacturer's defect in the sink became apparent. Although the supplier from which the sink/countertop combination had been purchased would not warranty the sink or ship a new one, Andy from Rapid Service was not willing to take no for an answer. He convinced the company to provide a new sink and personally drove to Vermont to secure a suitable replacement. He then came and installed the new sink one day later at no cost to us. Andy even remembered the shower handle my wife wanted had been unavailable back in January; he must have seen one since because he brought one with him when he fixed the sink and installed it to surprise her. We were both delighted! With Rapid, you're getting more than integrity and know-how - you're getting every last detail to perfection. Thank you, Andy!

I'm writing this letter because I am most impressed and pleased with the wonderful service I received this past winter from Rapid Service in Columbia. The water pipes froze twice and after the first time, the pipes were wrapped with fiber glass insulation. Then the pipes froze again. I had lived in my home only a few months when this happened. It was quite scary, as the pipes could burst, doing great damage. When it happened again, something had to be done.
Andy Hul of Rapid Service came when he said he would, even though it was the record breaking, coldest day in January, and there were many calls he needed to complete. Andy looked everything over, discovered that the water pipes were placed incorrectly on a cement slab, on the outside bay, on the north side, with flimsy insulation. Then, an sheetrock wall was built over them – trapping them in the coldest place. Also, two of the main water valves were damaged. The water pipes needed to be moved inside the wall, proper insulation needed to be placed in the outside walls and the water valves needed replacing. Andy worked quickly and well. It needed to be extended to two days, the second day was to place all of the insulation. Andy was most optimistic throughout the process, and when it was finished, there were no more problems, through this long, brutal winter. Andy left every area where he worked cleaner than when he began. I had total peace of mind. His work, at a most critical time, was high caliber, extremely well done and throughout, Andy was in good humor. Also a special thank you is deserved to Rachel, who is an important individual in the team. She kept me up to date on Andy's arrival times and she answered my many questions with patience and knowledge.
I am most appreciative and feel deep gratitude for the wonderful service provided by Andy Hul and Rachel from Rapid Service of Columbia, at a critical time. I highly recommend Rapid Service!

Rapid Service has come to my rescue twice in the past year with three plumbing fixes. A year ago, my wife was very ill and could not be moved from the house. The well pump quit in the afternoon and Rapid Service was called. With much snow on the ground, they found the well-head and started the diagnosis and repair. They said the pump was bad and would have to be replaced, but it was getting dark and they would have to return the next day. I informed them of my wife's condition and that she could not be moved and that we would need water for her care.
Under "the lights", they worked through until after 9 PM to complete the pump replacement and returned the next day to replace the water storage tank. My wife passed away six days later, but we did not have to put her through any more discomfort than necessary by moving her. Great job. Now I am trying to sell my house and the water heater starts leaking. I started to replace it myself, but since the original installation the fittings on top of the heater have changed and I could not find the proper hardware to complete the replacement. Enter Rapid Service with a truck full of cures and within an hour and a half, I was up and running again. This company is the most professional, courteous, friendly and efficient in both plumbing and electrical repairs that I have ever been privileged to interface with. I would not only recommend them to ANYONE, but they would be my first call for any plumbing or electrical troubles.

After failing to get our propane gas furnace repaired by licensed technicians from the company that delivers our gas, and, in the process, spending almost $1,000, we desperately called Rapid Service. This organization is outstanding! Honest, Highly Competent, Knowledgeable, Professional, Reliable are only some of the adjectives I can use to describe my experience. Confronted with a very difficult situation due to the recent cold snap, we had pipes bursting throughout the house of my father in law while he was hospitalized. The amount of dedication and compassion demonstrated by Ozzie and Andy was incredible. On two consecutive days they put in 16 hour days working on the house until early in the AM to minimize the damage. They would not quit until they were comfortable that the job was done right.
In addition to the repairs to the heating system, we used them to replace the boiler and oil tank. We are very pleased with the result, and are now planning on using them for some electrical work that needs to be done.
I cannot say enough positive about them. It is clear to me that the culture at Rapid Service is one of high standards and integrity. Everyone I interacted with to include Rachel the office manager is a joy to work with.
I might add that they provide this wonderful service at a reasonable price.

I had Rapid Service come to my home because there was a saddle valve under my kitchen sink that was about to make a huge mess. I wasn't able to use my filtered water faucet until the repair was made. The technician fixed it AND had a great attitude while he worked. That is a rare thing lately. He showed up when the office staff said he would, explained everything and the price before he started, and left everything neater than when he started. I did have to wait a couple days for service but it was worth the wait. I will be using them in teh future.

Rapid Service is outstanding - they have done work on our house many times in the past several years, including replacing water tank, furnace, septic pump. Most recently, this past year Andy and his team replaced our 40+ year old furnace and oil tank. At the beginning of the furnace job, Andy told us he could install it within two days. There were multiple unexpected complications during the job, but he and his team worked late into the evening both days to get it done on time.
He also limited the time we went without water to less than a day. A month or so later, Rapid Service responded very quickly to our call about water leaking into the basement, and worked closely with our insurance company during the evaluation and did a fantastic job replacing and painting the walls and ceiling. He and the Rapid Service team are always friendly and very professional, and do great work - we wouldn't hesitate to contact them again!

Rapid Service is the only company we turn to for our electrical and plumbing needs, whether it is an emergency or a planned visit. Most recently Andy handled the replacement of our electrical panel which involved interior and exterior work. This work was completed in one day! They also handled contacting CL+P and the town building inspector to set up the necessary follow up appointments.
(The building inspector raved about the quality of the work that was done and said he wished all inspections could go so smoothly.) Our most recent plumbing work, exterior frost-free hose faucet, bathroom faucet and under the counter/basement pipes replacement, was handled by Ozzie and his son. These folks at Rapid Service are very professional and we have gotten to know them very well over the years. They have been there for us during some big time emergencies.
Our water heater was leaking all over the basement and Andy came right over and get this - had a replacement water heater on his truck, so the repair was handled same day and we could get on with the clean up. There was also another time where we woke up to smoke in the basement coming from our well pump. As luck would have it, it was snowing that day and travel was really bad. Even though it wasn't safe for the trucks to go out, Ozzie still took his personal vehicle and came out to help us identify the problem, which ended up being a problem with the main line at the pole outside. We contacted CL+P and the issue was resolved that same evening.
I could go on and on, but take my word, you get what you pay for with these folks and more. I cannot tell you how comforting it is to know that if an electrical or plumbing problem comes up, I don't have to worry. I don't have to scour the yellow pages or internet lists looking for help, I just have to make one call to trusted old friends.

I had Rapid Service out last year to do a repair under my kitchen sink and I was very impressed with how professional the plumber was. So when I noticed that my water heater was getting rusty, I knew would be calling them again. I also had issues with a couple of my outlets and an issue with my tub spout leaking. I was told they have people on staff that could help with all of it.
It's nice to know that I don't have to hunt down and make a bunch of calls to different people to get things done. The office calls when their guy is on the way and my home is left clean after the repairs are done. Everyone that I've dealt with is friendly and they make things clear for the "average Joe" to understand. A+ for customer service and timely repairs.
