It's fall y'all!
It's officially that time for pumpkin spice and everything nice. Don't miss out on apple picking or holiday parties because you have to deal with a plumbing emergency. Fall is the best time to do some preventative maintenance before the cooler weather and first frost kicks in. Your Willimantic CT plumber has 3 tips to prevent an emergency plumbing repair.
Plumbing tips for Fall
- Outside hose - Remove your garden hoses. If they remain connected to your outside faucet, you could wind up with a burst pipe in the middle of winter. In fact, one of the top winter plumbing emergencies we get called out for is a burst outside spigot. It can flood your basement and cause more damage to other equipment.
- Leaks - Take a few minutes to look under every sink in your home. Look for puddles or moisture spots. Then, take a look around your basement for the same thing. Take care to check your boiler, water heater, well tank, and water lines as well. Repairing a small leak now can save you big, in terms of money AND time, later.
- Boiler - If you haven't already done so, schedule oil burner and cleaning NOW. You might not be using the heat yet, but heating companies book up very quickly. Rapid Service does not clean boilers, but we do repair the plumbing side. Inspect the valves, pipes, and connections for signs of corrosion or leaks. Give us a call for your boiler repair before peak heating season begins.
